Revolution to Host U.S. Open Cup Game in Providence
The New England Revolution have advanced to the 5th Round of the U.S. Open Cup tournament where they will host the Rochester Rhinos, the Revs’ USL Pro affiliate. This matchup will be a new experience for Revolution fans as they will play the game at Stevenson Field on the campus of Brown University in Providence , Rhode Island.
The matchup comes on the heels of both teams winning their 4th Round games, with Rochester shocking D.C. United 1-0 on Tuesday night and the Revs taking down the Richmond Kickers 3-2 on Wednesday night.
The Revs win over Richmond featured a lineup that started Steve Neumann, Donnie Smith, Scott Caldwell Stephen McCarthy and Brad Knighton along with a mix of regular starters. This type of lineup is generally the direction MLS teams take in Open Cup games in order to give their regular starters a bit of a break while still trying to advance in the tournament.
