Midnight Basketball

This is the second year in which the new version of  Midnight basketball has taken place.

"The Providence Midnight Basketball League started many years ago but for whatever reason it went away. Last year it was revived through Kobi Dennis and Providence Mayor Elorza  putting it together," said Holley.

However, this season, Providence was removed from the title and Rhode Island was put in due to the interest state wide.

"Due tot he demand from other cities, we expanded it and that's how we came about with Rhode Island Midnight Basketball League. So there is Providence, Central Falls, North Providence, North Kingstown among others playing in it," Holley said and added " the state has really galvanized behind the midnight basketball league. It's a community initiative, folks from the community volunteer, players come from the community and its been really successful in terms of bringing together different cities."

According to Holley, count on more expansion in the coming seasons.

"We already have a number of other cities that want to jump on board so we will take a look at that after the season is over but we want to make sure we do it correctly so that we are able to handle all the different cities.
