RI Top 10: High School Football Performances- Oct. 11, 12
Slippery Sewall
Portsmouth QB Matt Sewall ran for 160 yards and 3 scores as the Patriots bested Tolman 28-19. The 5'10" 170 pound Senior now has 13 rushing TDs on the season.
Pena Pulverizes SK
La Salle Quarterback Jace Pena ran for 2 touchdowns and threw for another as the Rams beat South Kingstown 27-16. Pena (5'9", 160 pounds) is only a Sophomore and is a player to watch in both this year and in the future.
Double Trouble
Connor Russ ran for 3 scores and Michael Garvey returned a pair of interceptions to the house as Middletown upended Tiverton 48-20. The Islanders move to 3-1 in Division 3, and 5-1 overall on the season.
Santiago to Cook
Another dynamic duo was on display in Hope’s 38-6 win over PCD/Wheeler/Juanita Sanchez. QB Matthew Santiago threw 3 TD passes- all to Josiah Cook- as the Blue Wave cruised to victory.
Cranston East Sees Blue
Running Back Remington Blue ran for 118 yards and a pair of scores in leading Hendricken to a 33-10 victory over Cranston West. Blue the MVP of last year's Division 1 Super Bowl and is averaging nearly 15 yards per carry in his Senior season in 2013.
Coogan Crushes Cumberland
North Kingstown Running Back Corey Coogan had 4 touchdowns on the ground as the Skippers beat Cumberland 36-14. NK moves to 3-1 in Divsion 2-B and 5-1 overall on the season.
Cosmopulos Conquers EG
Quarterback Eric Cosmopulos threw 3 touchdown passes and had a TD of his own on the ground to lead Moses Brown to a 34-0 win over previously unbeaten East Greenwich. The Senior QB now has 12 TD passes on the season.
Zleh Tames the Lions
Mt. Pleasant Running Back Randolph Zleh ran for 225 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 22-12 win over Lincoln. The Senior helped the Kilties improve to 4-0 this season in Division 3.
Corvese Launches Air Raid
Cranston East Quarterback Alex Corvese threw 4 TD passes and ran for another score as the Thunderbolts rolled to a 48-12 victory over East Providence. Corvese has thrown 21 TD passes in 6 games this season.
Coventry Can't Stop Conte
Johnston Running Back Marc Conte ran for 175 yards and 4 touchdowns and also intercepted a pass in leading the Panthers to a 36-28 win over Coventry. The Junior is making his second straight appearance on the countdown this week.
