RI's Brad Valois Wins the BENRUS Open

Rhode Island's Brad Valois shot a 5-under par 49 to win the BENRUS Open at The Preserve, a new par-3 golf course in Richmond, Rhode Island. 

Valois sank putts of 35 feet, 25 feet, 30 feet along with a couple of 20 and 15 foot putts en route to the victory. 

Guy Boros of Florida and Kyle Gallo of Connecticut finished in a tie for second, each shooting a 3-under par 51.

Valois takes home the $25,000 purse.

Valois is from Warwick Rhode Island is the holder of four Rhode Island State Amateur Championships, his last in 2013, as well as a Stroke Play Championship, defeating Bobby Leopold in 2014. 

Valois is one of only four players to win the RI State Amateur four times and the first to do it since 1967 when Cameron Quinn accomplished the feat. 

Other Rhode Islanders in the Field

Tyler Cooke of East Greenwich and John Pannone of Providence both shot even par 54 to round out the top ten.

Meanwhile, Warwick's Charlie Blanchard and one time PGA Tour pro P.H. Horgan of Newport shot a 2-over par 56 while Coventry's Bobby Leopold shot a 3-over par 57

Warwick's Jeffery Martin rounded out the Rhode Island competitors, shooting a 3-over par 57.
