Top health expert Dr. Anthony Fauci is warning that football needs to switch to a model similar to the NHL or NBA.
"Unless players are essentially in a bubble -- insulated from the community and they are tested nearly every day -- it would be very hard to see how football is able to be played this fall," Fauci said. "If there is a second wave, which is certainly a possibility and which would be complicated by the predictable flu season, football may not happen this year."

- According to a report from Sport’s Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger, at least 30 LSU football players are in quarantine because they tested positive for COVID-19 or were found to have had contact with those who tested positive.
- Kansas State athletics announced Saturday afternoon that it has suspended all voluntary football workouts for 14 days as a result of the most recent COVID-19 test results. "The school's athletic department made the decision in conjunction with university and county medical officials. As of June 19, following PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing of more than 130 athletes, there have been 14 positive tests," according to USA Today.
- Five Philadelphia Phillies players and three staff members who were participating in workouts at their Clearwater, Florida training facility have tested positive for COVID-19, the team confirmed Friday. In addition, 20 major- and minor-league players and 10 other staff members are awaiting results of tests. Eight staffers have tested negative, the team said. The club's facility is now closed.

The one pro sport that appears to have had success restarting is soccer. Top pro leagues in both Germany and now the Premier League in the United Kingdom have both restarted without a major outbreak.
