Enright and Towill has their first Volvo Ocean Race in 2014-15 as skipper and team director, respectively.

“We’re working hard on building a competitive team ahead of the race, and have a couple of transatlantic sailings lined up for April and May,” said Enright.

Team USA is the fourth to announce for the upcoming edition which starts on October 22 in Lisbon.

“We’ve achieved a strong collective of sponsors, and the boat has now been refitted and branded in Lisbon, waiting for us to get over there and get it out on the water,” Enright added.

Volvo Ocean Race

The Volvo Ocean Race is a 45,000 nautical mile transatlantic race known as one of the toughest tests for sailors. In 2006, a sailor was lost overboard and a boat sunk in two separate incidents on a leg from New York to Portsmouth, England.

Stopovers in the 2017-18 race include Newport, Alicante (Spain), Cape Town (South Africa), Auckland (New Zealand), Lisbon (Portugal) and Gothenburg (Sweden).
