URI Beats Big East’s Seton Hall - Third Consecutive Win

For the Rams, the win over Seton Hall 76-63 at the empty Ryan Center was a quality win in a game that had endless twists.
The Rams led consistently throughout the first half, but Seton Hall cut the lead and the Rams were up just 36-35 at the half.

A dunk by Seton Hall's Jared Rhoden tied the score at 61-61 with 6:11 to go. From there, URI dominated especially in the backcourt as the Hall’s Shavar Reynolds suffered through foul trouble and ultimately fouled out. The Rams (3-2) held the visitors without a field goal the rest of the way, as the Pirates (1-2) missed their final eight shots of the game.
Senior guards Jeremy Sheppard and Fatts Russell each scored five points as the Rams ended the game on a 15-2 run. Russell and sophomore Makhel Mitchell combined to go 5-for-6 at the line.

- For the fourth time in five games, Rhody had four players score in double digits. Fatts Russell led the way with 17, followed by Jeremy Sheppard's 14. Ishmael Leggett and Makhi Mitchell had 11 points each.
- Mitchell is the eighth different player to score in double digits through five games and he had 11 rebounds for his first career double-double.
- Rhode Island blocked eight shots, seven of which came in the first half. Antwan Walker had three, while Makhel Mitchell and Makhi Mitchell each had two.
- URI is one of just 13 teams nationally that has played four or more games in the first eight days of the season.
