URI Big Man Enters the Transfer Portal

The NCAA basketball transfer portal opened on Monday and one of the members of the University of Rhode Island men’s basketball team has already entered it.

Jeremy Foumena, the redshirt freshman from Montreal, entered the portal.

He averaged 5.3 points and 3.5 rebounds a game this past season.

When he came to URI, he was a celebrated recruit.

He was one of two freshmen to sign NLIs with Rhode Island before the 2021-22 season out of coach Tony McIntyre's Orangeville Prep program in the Toronto area, along with Rory Stewart, choosing Rhode Island over UCF and Georgetown. He was also recruited by Oklahoma, Indiana, Marquette, and Xavier, and also has two uncles who played professionally in France.
