URI Wins Third in a Row — Beats Dayton in OT

The Rams are on a bit of a winning streak.

The University of Rhode Island men’s basketball team beat the University of Dayton 81-76 on Tuesday night in Dayton.

The Rams were down 39-31 at halftime.

In the second half, Rhode Island fought back. Dayton’s last lead was 57-56 at 4:29 in the second half.

With 1 minute left, the Rams were up 2 — 64-62, but couldn’t hold the lead. Dayton tied the game, and both teams missed late opportunities send the game to overtime, knotted at 64.

Junior Jahmere Tripp had an outstanding game for the Rams with 24 points and 8 rebounds.

Tyler Cochran added 21 points.

The Rams were prolific in overtime, outscoring Dayton 17-12

The Rams improve to 13-8 and 4-4 in the Atlantic 10. 

Dayton falls to 14-7 and 5-3 in the conference.
