WARNING: This URI game recap may be found disturbing to fans -- as the Rams blew another 15 point lead at home.

It was hard to sink lower than Saturday’s loss 63-61 to one of the worst teams in the Atlantic 10, George Washington, but the Rams did it Tuesday night.

Tuesday, the Rams lost to Richmond University 70-63 after leading by 15 points.

Here are some of the ugly stats:

- The Rams scored 1 point in the last 6 minutes.

- The Rams were outscored 15-1 at the end of the game.

- The Spiders outscored the Rams by 20 points after halftime.

- Rhode Island had no field goals over the final 5:50. A 3-point basket from Jalen Carey put the Rams ahead 62-55, but URI missed its final six field-goal attempts and turn the ball over twice during a game-ending 15-1 run.

Rams fans have not seen such a house of horrors since the final minute of the Elite 8 game in the NCAA Tournament when the Rams blew an eight-point lead under a minute and with it lost their chance for the Final Four.

URI (12-6, 3-3 Atlantic 10) controlled the game in the opening 20 minutes, outscoring Richmond (13-7, 4-3 A-10) by 13 points.

Strong Rhode Island defense limited the Spiders to 26 points on 10-of-26 shooting. Taking care of the ball (three first-half turnovers), Rhode Island used a balanced attack to steadily build a lead. Ishmael Leggett and Antwan Walker both scored eight points, while Malik Martin (7 points), Makhi Mitchell (6 points), Ishmael El-Amin (6 points) and Makhel Mitchell (4 points). That was the good news.

Here is more bad news -- Spider point guard Jacob Gilyard scored all 15 of his points in the second half, including shooting 9-of-9 at the free-throw line. Tyler Burton added nine points and 10 rebounds, while Grant Golden added eight points as the Spiders were clicking on all cylinders.

Gilyard and Burton combined for 11 of the 15 points during the game-clinching run.
