Christmas Morning Weather Update

While most of us in Rhode Island are not seeing a blanket of white this Christmas morning, that may well change by late tomorrow. Most of the major indicators are now in agreement that a storm will form along the Mid-Atlantic coast later today and tonight. That storm will intensify rapidly early tomorrow and move up th coast toward New England. It looks like snow will begin here sometime tomorrow afternoon and become heavy tomorrow night into Monday. The snow should taper off and end by late Monday. It's not unreasonable to expect several inches accumulation but any precise prediction of amounts is not possible until the storm actually forms later tonight. Also, there is still a small possibility that snow could mix with or change to rain at some coastal locations and that, of course, would impact snow accumulations in those areas. So, the big picture is becoming clearer this morning but the details are still to be filled in. Meanwhile, have a Very Merry Christmas and enjoy today's weather that should remain just fine with only increasing clouds for those visits to Grandma's house.
