High Wind Warning Issued for RI Starting Monday Afternoon - Power Outages Possible

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for Rhode Island and parts of New England starting Monday afternoon.

According to NWS, the warning of gusts up to 60 MPH goes into effect at 3 PM and goes through 1 AM Tuesday morning. 

Power outages could occur, says NWS.

...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 1 AM
EST TUESDAY...

* WHAT...South winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts between 50 and 60
  mph expected.

* WHERE...Central and southern Rhode Island, southeast
  Massachusetts including Cape Cod and the Islands as well as
  coastal Essex county.

* WHEN...From 3 PM this afternoon to 1 AM EST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds could blow down some trees and power
  lines. Scattered power outages are possible. Travel could be
  difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around
trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of
your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if
you must drive.
