On With Summer ! : The Memorial Day Weekend Weather Outlook

Over the years the Memorial Day Weekend has become the unofficial start of the summer season and the weather has always been a major headache for forecasters.  We’re right at the end of spring but not quite into summer, so some years the weather has been a real horror show (cold, rainy, drizzly) and other years it has been glorious (sunshine, warm and dry). Last year was a perfect mixed bag, 60s on Saturday, 80s Sunday and 70s on Monday. There was plenty of sunshine but a few showers mixed in. So what does our weather have in store this year?

Overall this looks like a nice three-day stretch of weather. Temperatures should warm into the 70s on Saturday and likely into the 80s Sunday and Monday. At the beaches I am looking for sea breezes so with ocean water temperatures still around 60, air temperatures should top out around 70 on Saturday and in the 70s after that. Sunshine should prevail through the weekend and odds are better that even that we’ll get through the 3 days without any wet weather. However, there is a very slight chance of a passing shower Saturday and an increasing chance of scattered thunderstorms as a cool front approaches late Monday. So, let the memorial events, parades, games, cookouts and summer activities begin! The weather should not be a worry but, as always, check back here just in case Mother Nature decides to throw a curve ball or change the batting order.
