Skating Through The Heart Of Winter

I keep waiting for the pattern to change. I know it will but it’s sort of like waiting for paint to dry or for water to boil … you can concentrate on the event all you want but it’s not going to hurry things one bit. Meanwhile, we are sailing through the heart of this winter with just a smattering of snow and only 8 days in which temperatures have stayed below freezing all day. Remarkable! And all of this going on here as much of Europe, Asia, Alaska and parts of Canada are having one of the most severe winters on record.

This week looks like more of the same. There are still no big snowstorms in sight and the short burst of Sunday cold is long gone and hard to find. We could see a few flakes mixed with raindrops around midweek and more unsettled, probably rainy weather as we head through later Thursday and Friday. By the weekend drier and colder weather should return … but not too cold. Highs for much of the week should be between 40 and 50 and the Ghiorse Factor for outdoor activity will play in the 4-8 range for most of the week and the weekend.

Yes, the pattern will change some day…but don’t hold your breath.
