Apple Co-Founder Wozniak to Speak at Bryant

Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak will be speak at Bryant University on Thursday as part of the Trustee Innovation Series.

"Bryant’s exceptional opportunities for learning and cultural enrichment are enhanced by the visiting speakers and artists who join us on campus. Engagement with the great minds and talents of our times provides educational experiences that help us to expand our horizons and challenge assumptions about the world and role of individuals,” said Bryant president Ronald Machtley. 

The event will take place on April 6 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. and is open to the Bryant community.

Steve Wozniak 

Wozniak played an important role in transforming the computing industry.

Apple I and Apple II, which he designed, helped launch personal computing, revolutionized access to information, and influenced the Macintosh. In 1985, President Ronald Reagan presented Wozniak with the National Medal of Technology, the highest honor bestowed on America’s leading innovators. Other honors include induction into the Inventors Hall of Fame and receipt of the Heinz Award for Technology and the Hoover Medal given for outstanding extra-career services by engineers to humanity.

Through his career, Wozniak has been involved in numerous business and philanthropic ventures, focusing mostly on computer capabilities for education and emphasizing hands-on learning and creativity for students. 

He currently is Chief Scientist for Fusion-io. His autobiography, iWoz: From Computer Geek to Cult Icon, is a New York Times bestseller.
