Blue Sphere Corp. to Embark on New Project in Johnston, RI

Blue Sphere Corp., a clean energy company that develops, manages and owns waste to energy projects, has announced that they will break ground on their waste to energy project in Johnston, RI on Wednesday, May 28, 2015.  The event will begin at 10:30 a.m. at 293-303 Scituate Avenue.

“We welcome Blue Sphere Corp. to the Town of Johnston, and we are appreciative of the fact that they have put their faith and trust into our community,” said Joseph M. Polisena, the Mayor of Johnston.

The project is a join venture with York Capital Management to develop, construct and operate 3.2 megawatts biogas generation facility in Johnston.

The 3.2 megawatts of energy will come from uneaten food that would normally end up in local landfills. The created electricity will then be sold to NG to provide power to local homes and business.

"This facility is the ultimate landfill because we take waste in the front end and nothing coming out.  There’s no smell just electricity and compost," said CEO Shlomi Palas.

Blue Sphere plans to be operational by the end of the fourth quarter of 2015.
