The renaming has not stopped. Maybe not as grand, but the mini-mart and smoke shop on Waterman Street, just a block off Thayer Street and across from the backside of Brown’s Watson Center for Information and Technology, has a new name.

Brown Mart Smoke Shop has now been unveiled.

The former name of the business was Daily Stop Mart. According to one of the employees, the shop’s name was changed on Monday. There is a new owner, but the employee could not disclose the name.

LOGO: Brown University
The logo of the newly named smokeshop looks a bit like the old Brown Athletic Department logo that was phased out in 2022.

The name is everywhere.

Brown - Lifespan Deal

According to the parties' press announcement in June, a $15 million to $25 million annual investment from Brown to Lifespan, totaling $150 million over seven years, will be devoted to "strengthening Lifespan’s financial capacity to sustain and advance the shared academic mission of the two organizations." Following that period, Lifespan will invest $15 million annually to support the Warren Alpert Medical School’s education and research efforts.

There is no word from Brown on the university's view of the new smokeshop name.
