Bryant's Hassenfeld Institute to Host Discussion on RI Credit Union Collapse

Common Cause's John Marion will be part of the discussion
The Hassenfeld Institute at Bryant University will host a discussion on the collapse of the Rhode Island Credit Union.

“On January 1, 1991, Rhode Island Governor Bruce Sundlun marked his first day in office by shutting down 45 financial institutions to prevent a complete collapse of the credit union system in the state. Join us for a discussion of a new case study on the crisis by Dr. Melissa Prosky and a mini-documentary featuring key voices from this pivotal era in Rhode Island's history,” says the Institute in their press release.

The discussion will take place on Tuesday, November 13 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Bryant’s Campus.

The Discussion

The discussion will be on a new case study about the crisis by Dr. Melissa Prosky and a short documentary featuring several key voices on the era.

The panel will include ohn Marion, Executive Director, Common Cause Rhode Island; Elisabeth Harrison, News Director, Rhode Island Public Radio; and Ross Cheit, Professor of Political Science, Brown University, and Chair of the Rhode Island Ethics Commission.
