CVS: Nearly 200 Rhode Island Residents Laid Off This Week

As GoLocal reported on August 1, CVS, Rhode Island’s largest private for-profit employer, notified employees that as many as 5,000 employees are facing potential layoffs.
On Friday, CVS spokesperson Mike DeAngelis told GoLocal the following:
GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE -- SIGN UP FOR GOLOCAL FREE DAILY EBLAST"We are filing our WARN notice in Rhode Island today. Although more than 500 positions are impacted, only 198 positions are held by residents of Rhode Island.
This is because we had to include in the WARN count our employees who reside/work remotely in other states but report to someone who is located in Rhode Island. The job reductions are effective beginning on October 21. Our employee count in Rhode Island will be approximately 7,500 people."
The notification by CVS is required by law to be filed with the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training once layoffs exceed a certain threshold.
