Fane Releases New Designs for Tower

The Fane Tower has a new look. The NY-based developer is scheduled to appear before the 195 Commission today at 5 PM and in preparation, the company has released revised designs for the project.

The controversial proposal has been strongly opposed by competing developer Buff Chace and the Providence Preservation Society. But, it has generated from support from legislative leaders like Senate President Dominick Ruggerio and Speaker of the House Nick Mattiello.

The project was blocked repeatedly in the review process by Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza, and the Rhode Island General Assembly approved legislation in 2019 to strip the city of much of its regulatory authority over development in the 195 District
