Home of Aquarium on Wickenden Street is Being Demolished

The retail aquarium store which was a mainstay on Wickenden Street in Fox Point is now gone -- and the building is going as well.

The building was hard to miss — the street level of the oversized retail and residential structure that was built in 1910 was painted with an aquarium mural. 

Now, the building is being demolished.

“Aqua-Life Aquarium is closed. If I do decide to open another retail brick and mortar store it will not be in New England. I'm working on an online store on my [website] aqualifecentral.com, still a work in progress. The Aqua-Life Foundation is still growing and adding new species as we speak. Innovations to help feed the world. Stand firm, keep the faith,” according to the store’s Facebook page.

According to records, the store was owned by George Goulart, Jr. and the building is owned by Goulart and his wife Irene.

Efforts to reach them have been unsuccessful.
