RI Airport Corp. to Host Workshops Focused on Renovations to T.F. Green Airport

Iftikhar Ahmad, president and CEO of RIAC.
The Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) is set to host two workshops to engage the public in planning for the future of T.F. Green Airport.

“The master plan process allows the team to hear from a wide range of stakeholders. We have developed preliminary concepts based upon the forecasted needs, which do not include any runway extensions or realignments, but rather focuses on the existing airport property and facilities. We intend to do a lot of listening and gathering input from the public on these initial concepts.” said Iftikhar Ahmad, president and CEO of RIAC.

The workshops will take place on Tuesday, June 25 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and Wednesday, June 26 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wyndham Providence Hotel.

The Master Plan

According to RIAC, the Master Plan is focused on defining feasible and flexible development plans to accommodate forecasted demand over a 20-year period.

Back in April, RIAC engaged key stakeholders and formed a Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) comprised of representatives from local, state and federal governmental agencies, airlines, concessions, and private business.

Along with the expertise and experience of our Master Plan team, C&S Companies, and the initial input from the April TAC workshop, RIAC is prepared to foster discussions between project facilitators and attendees.

RIAC estimates that they are 60% of the way through the planning process.
