RI Black Business Association Announces Award Winners

The Rhode Island Black Business Association (RIBBA) announced on Thursday the recipients of its 2016 Business Awards Program. 

The Awards Program is "designed to honor achievements of exceptional leaders who have achieved great success, and leaders who strive towards professional accomplishment, excels in their field and exemplary leadership, business growth, and service to the community," said RIBBA.

The awards recipients will be publicly honored at RIBBA's 5th Annual Business Awards Gala, which is scheduled for Friday, October 7, 2016 6:00 pm at the Omni Providence Hotel in Providence.

The 2016 Business Award Recipients are: 
 
George T. Downing Business Leadership Award
Michael Van Leesten, CEO of OIC of Rhode Island 
 
The Allen Brothers Business Award
Dewayne "Boo"Hackney who Co-Owner, It's Hair Barbershop
 
Isaac Rice Entrepreneurship Award
 Christine Cardoza, Funeral Director at Bell Funeral Home 
 
Christiana Bannister Community Service Award
Walter R. Stone, Associate Justice at Rhode Island Superior Court
 
Member of the Year
Simon Goudiaby, President/COO at ICG-USA 
 
I congratulate the award recipients," Lisa Ranglin, President of the Rhode Island Black Business Association, said in a statement. "We received dozens of nominations this year. These individuals and companies, we considered the best in their league and are worthy of this recognition."
