Lisa Ranglin: 16 to Watch in 2016 in RI

The President of the Rhode Island Black Business Association had a strong 2015. After serving on Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza’s transition team, Ranglin, a Vice President at Bank of America, was named to the Roger Williams Medical Center board in February.

This past fall, under Ranglin’s direction, RIBBA announced a partnership with Freedom National Bank in order to make business loans available to small and minority businesses, and was approved for $200,000 in funding from the Providence Community Development Block Grant Program.

Ranglin and RIBBA have set their agenda for 2016, which is “action, legislation and inclusive policies will take us all to the next stage,” which includes full and equal access to capital for black and minority businesses; full enforcement of access to state and city construction and procurement contracts; and strong partnerships and collaborations to deliver exceptional results to members and the larger community.

“RIBBA is entering its 5th year as the united voice and advocate for black and minority owned businesses in the state of Rhode Island,” the organization posted in December.

“In 2016, we will continue to engage with Rhode Island leadership directly to change and improve the business climate and culture for Rhode Island’s black and minority small businesses."
