TGI Friday's in Warwick Closes

The TGI Fridays in Warwick closed.
The TGI Fridays restaurant located on Centerville Road in Warwick closed on Sunday.

It is the only TGI Fridays in Rhode Island.

“We regret to inform you that as of February 23, this TGI Fridays location has closed. We are extremely grateful to our loyal guests and to the staff. We invite you to visit our other TGI Fridays at 1105 Fall River Avenue, Seekonk, MA, and look forward to serving you there,” reads a sign on the door of the restaurant.

After a December closing of a TGIF in New Jersey, its was reported by the Daily Record:

"We continually review our restaurant performance," spokeswoman Peyton Sadler said. "This closure was a strategic decision based solely on business demands."

Managers and crew members were offered positions at other locations, Sadler said.

The Parsippany restaurant was corporate-owned, Sadler said. TGI Fridays currently operates about 900 locations in the United States and 29 in New Jersey, including another Morris County site in East Hanover.

TGI Fridays' closure comes a couple of weeks after it was announced that the Hooter’s restaurant on Airport Road would be renovated and reopened.

Last week, the Outback Steakhouse in East Greenwich announced that it was closing.

About TGI Fridays

On the restaurant’s website, they write:

“In Manhattan in 1965, there was no place where people could go out to meet friends and make new ones in an environment that was at once both relaxed and yet exciting. Then, Alan Stillman opened Fridays as a way, he said, “to meet Pan Am stewardesses.” Suddenly, there was a place with great food, new and exciting drinks, and an electric energy. A place where bartenders mixed the environment just as well as they mixed drinks. In short, a place like nowhere else. Today, Fridays in Warwick, RI is still America’s most iconic bar and grill. We embrace and celebrate our heritage as a bar. One that just happens to serve killer food in an environment where it’s always Friday.”
