TV Ratings Rock For Pats Game on Channel 12

The ratings for Channel 12 for the AFC Championship Game are in and the numbers are astonishing. Media experts are comparing them to what ratings are for an actual Super Bowl game that’s how enormous they were.
The numbers show the game scored a 40-rating/60% share for WPRI.
Each rating represents about 6,200 households in Southern New England. The share % represents the percentage of people watching a particular program during a specific time period. So clearly you don’t have to be a MIT student to see the game had incredible viewership. Channel 12 also took advantage of the opportunity by carrying the post game press conferences live and also had a reporter, Steve Neilsen live from Indianapolis Sunday night. Nice touch and nice commitment of resources.
What Does $3.5 Million Get You?
For those who want to run a :30-second spot during the actual Super Bowl it’ll cost you. The price tag for a commercial this year is running about $3.5 million dollars on average on CBS. If you break that out and do the math—it comes to $116,666.66 per second to be on the air. We can expect some creativity this year on the spots and then also some disappointments for sure especially when you think a company paid $3.5 million dollars to get out a lame message.
