Food Network’s Giada De Laurentiis, host of Giada at Home, spent her Independence Weekend in Newport and Jamestown. She celebrated the holiday with her daughter Jade and made a special American flag themed pizza for the occasion.

Back in April 6, 2007 she filmed an episode of Giada's Weekend Getaways in Newport. In the episode she goes on an exciting food-filled weekend adventure in and around Newport which includes a scooter ride for frozen lemonade, a courtside lobster roll, clambake, and a Newport-style “bag of doughnuts”.

For the episode she traveled to seven restaurants in and around Newport, and to finish off the trip in the most Rhode Island way possible, Giada goes to Dell’s Lemonade in Cranston for a classic Rhode Island specialty.
