Report: 1 in 7 RI Households Can't Afford Food

1 in 7 Rhode Island households cannot afford adequate food according to a new status report on hunger released by the Rhode Island Food Bank.

While the rate of food insecurity has decreased slightly from 14.7% (2008-2010) to 14.4% (2011 - 2013) clients of the food bank are still making trade offs between buying food and buying essentials such as utilities and medicine.

The Food Bank now serves 63,000 people each month through its pantries.
