Harvest season is one of the best times of year to enjoy New England’s culinary bounty, and Providence's Farmstead, Inc., has gone to the mat with a fantastic lineup of fall food and drink events. From a local duck dinner to a butchery demo, with lots of family-style and Biggie-themed meals in between, there’s something to please every palate at Farmstead, Inc. this fall.

Meat & Greet with The Fatted Calf

In the midst of a cross-country tour to promote Taylor Boetticher’s newly-released cookbook, In the Charcuterie, Fatted Calf owners and fellow salumi connoisseurs, Taylor Boetticher and Toponia Miller, stop by Farmstead, Inc. to join forces with the shop/bistro’s like-minded carnivores for a free book-signing and butchery demo, and a three-course a la carte dinner with meat-centric dishes like Pig Leg Pastrami, Little “Ugly Burgers” with Autumn Slaw and Chicken-Fried Quail on Scrapple. Guests are invited to sample fare from the book and flip through the charcuterie-laden pages of Boetticher’s text, as explained by the author himself.

An advocate for local, honest and humane forms of sustenance, “Hunter Angler Gardener” blogger Hank Shaw heads to Farmstead, Inc. in for an intimate book signing, complimentary passed hors d’oeuvres and an a la carte dinner crafted by Shaw and Farmstead, Inc. Chef/Owner Matt Jennings, centered around one of their favorite autumn proteins – local, sustainably and humanely raised duck. The a la carte dinner will include ample servings of the rich, meaty bird in dishes like Duck Terrine with Duck “Crispies,” Braised Duck Leg Pozole and Charred Goose Breast.

$29.00 per person; $39.00 per person with beverage pairing
Farmstead, Inc.’s Sunday Suppers continue this fall as Matt & Kate Jennings and the Farmstead team share age-old family recipes in a weekly Sunday Supper series. Diners are welcomed for three-course family-style feasts of homespun classics with a Farmstead twist, served communally with an optional beverage pairing (two hand-selected wines from the restaurant’s cellar, one cocktail or a beer-and-shot combo, depending on the menu). The full bistro menu is also available during Sunday-night dinner. Reservations accepted but not required.

Hip Hop & Huevos Brunch

First Sunday of every month
10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Matt and crew keep their favorite plus-sized rapper, The Notorious B.I.G., in their hearts with Hip Hop & Huevos brunches on the first Sunday of every month. Along with Biggie-approved tunes, the midday meals include playful takes on classic brunch dishes like chicken-fried steak & eggs, big ol’ biscuits, Nashville mojitos, sausage gravy and house-made doughnuts. Enjoy the music and munchies on Farmstead’s casual sidewalk patio for a Sunday worthy of Big Papa himself. Reservations suggested but not required.
