“I have always believed we have to ‘educate to generate,’ which means spreading knowledge about behavioral health to combat the stigma surrounding these health issues in order to raise funds in support. It amazes me the extent to which Butler treats and helps so many people with mental illness, and I’m so thankful to be part of the efforts taking place,” said Matone.

About Matone

Matone has been involved with Butler Hospital for over 18 years, serving on the Butler Hospital Foundation since its inception.

He served as chair of the foundation in both 2014 and 2015, and was responsible for briefing new leadership on philanthropic activities and focuses.

Matone has also championed several fundraising campaigns and taken on leadership roles for numerous events.

As an ambassador in the community, he seeks to connect individuals and families with the programs at Butler.

In May 2018, Matone was honored as Corporation Member of the Year by the hospital.

Community Service Award Program

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Community Service Awards program.

Since the program’s inception, the Foundation has donated nearly $6 million to nonprofits on behalf of program winners.

The 2019 winners were announced at the company’s regional meetings earlier this year, with grants presented to nonprofits at local events throughout the country.
