RI International Film Festival Across Providence
Flickers, now in its third decade, presents and creates film, educational programs and outreach, live performances and cultural events. Flickers produces video, audio and film about the arts for television, festivals and other non-profit organizations.
Flickers creates and produces educational programs that teach about the media arts. From an acclaimed international film festival held throughout the state each August to a Japanese film festival held in conjunction with the Black Ships Festival in Newport, to Flickers' award-winning arts and cultural television series, "Between Takes," to the Creative Impulse Awards, to radio programming with "Double Feature," to the Jamestown Chamber Music Series, to ScriptBiz and the KidsEye Summer Filmmaking Camp, Flickers has brought live performances, great films, interviews with leading artists, and innovative educational programs to appreciative audiences for 35 years.

Black Ships Festival at Japan America Society in Bristol
The Japan America Society of Rhode Island is celebrating the 36th year of the Black Ships Festival.
The Black Ships Festival is a celebration of the friendship between the country of Japan and the state of Rhode Island in commemoration of Commodore Matthew C. Perry. Commodore Perry opened trade up between the United States and Japan with the Treaty of Kanagawa in 1864.
Japanese arts and crafts, martial arts, a Japanese tea ceremony and Taiko drums are only some of the highlights.

Chris Lengyel: Nothing Up My Sleeves at AS220
Magician/illusionist Chris Lengyel will be at the Blackbox Theater @ AS220 on August 10th at 7:00 pm.
Chris' show, "Nothing Up My Sleeves" is an all ages, interactive, comedy magic show that features intimate close-up magic, mentalism, escapes, mind reading, and bigger scaled effects. It's a great show for kids and adults.

The Craft: Rhode Island- World Premiere at RISD Museum
The Craft: Rhode Island offers a behind-the-scenes look into Rhode Island's booming craft beer industry that examines this rich subject matter from a variety of angles and perspectives. It delves into the personal histories and career paths of a number of our state's most well-known brewers, the history of Rhode Island's oldest and still-beloved "craft" brand, Narragansett Beer, the industry's growing impact on our state's economy and recent legislative changes that have supported this growth, and, of course, the ins and outs of the brewing process itself.
The event goes from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Ocean State Follies at Courthouse Center for the Arts
It’s the Rhode Island version of Saturday Night Live with the show's celebs like the late Providence Mayor Buddy Cianci, TV personality Gene Valicenti, Gov. Gina Raimondo, President Trump, and two gum-chewing, gossiping “hairdressahs,” Cheryl and Rhonda from North Providence and Cranston.
President Trump sings “Rockin’ Robin,” (Tweet tweet tweet) and of course Mr. Rhody, the Follies premier dialect coach, complete with speech flashcards, lectures at each show. “I am not here so much as a puffahmah, as much as I’m here to ejukay youze." Youze get the idea.

Sunday is the final performance of Hamilton at PPAC, don't miss out.

George Washington, Eliza Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson and Hamilton's lifelong friend/foil Aaron Burr all make their mark in this astonishing new musical exploration of a political mastermind.
