Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys Host the Mardi Gras Ball

Mardi Gras Ball at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet

Tomorrow night, celebrate the season at the annual Mardi Gras Ball at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet. This year’s show includes crowd favorites Beausoleil with Michael Doucet, Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys and Corey Ledet and his Zydeco Band. As always, it’s all happening in the trendy Edgewood section of Cranston. Tickets are $33 and $330 for a table of 10. Music begins around 6PM. Costumes most definitely encouraged!

Gogo Bordello at Lupos

Gogo Bordello is a leading gypsy punk band known for outrageous stage shows led by singer guitarist Eugene Hutz and based in New York City . The band brings together elements of punk, ska, dub and klezmer. Think high energy punk like the Dropkick Murphys with an Eastern European vibe. They’re playing an early show Saturday night at Lupos. Music starts at 7PM – tickets are $25 in advance, $30 day of show.

Lori McKenna at Common Fence

Singer-Songwriter Lori McKenna from nearby Stoughton, MA is a kind of songwriter for the stars. She’s penned numerous country songs for leading artists including Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Hunter Hayes and Little Big Town. She’s also a great singer in her own right, as heard on her latest album Massachusetts, released in 2013. Catch her show at Common Fence Music in Portsmouth tomorrow night at 8PM. Tickets are $22 in advance, $25 at the door.

Diana Krall appears Wednesday at PPAC

Dianna Krall at PPAC

Jazz singer and multiple Grammy winner Dianna Krall will be at PPAC next Wednesday March 4. Krall is on her Wallflower tour, celebrating the release of her recent album of the same name, which features covers of rock/pop classics by Bob Dylan, The Eagles and The Mommas and Papas. Her Boston show earlier this week got rave reviews.  The show is at 7PM – tickets available here starting at $45.

Marc Cohn at Greenwich Odeum

There’s a big show coming to East Greenwich next Thursday March 5 when Marc Cohn arrives at the Greenwich Odeum.  Cohn is best known for his Grammy winning 1991 hit “Walking in Memphis,” from his eponymous debut album. After a 10 year hiatus, he recently returned to recording and touring. Show is at 8PM. Late word, this show is SOLD OUT.
