Celtic Band Pendragon Appears in Newport Tomorrow
During Women’s History Month, we’re featuring some of our favorite female artists.This week, “5 Live” celebrates some great Blues ladies along with a not-to-be-missed St. Patrick’s Day show.

Pendragon at Jane Pickens Theatre

Head to Newport this weekend for our St. Patrick’s Day pick. Tomorrow afternoon, celebrate with Rhode Island’s top Celtic band Pendragon, at a special show in the Jane Pickens Theatre. The afternoon show, billed as “Pendragon and Friends” includes performances from Ullieann Pipe master Torrin Ryan and members of Tir Na Nog Irish Dance troupe led by Erika Damiani. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children under 12. Concert begins at 2PM sharp.

Kat Edmondson at Narrows

Critical favorite Kat Edmondson appears tonight at the Narrow’s Center in Fall River. Edmondson, who once competed on American Idol, is known for her range of style - from Pop to Country to Bossa Nova. The Texas native honed her Americana chops on Austin City Limits and A Prairie Home Companion and has played alongside Chris Isaak and Lyle Lovett. Tickets are $25 in advance, $28 day of show. Show begins at 8PM.

Blues at Chan’s

A stellar group of women will be at Chan’s tomorrow night, March 14, as the “Ladies of the Blues” tour arrives in Woonsocket. Billed as the Northeast/Northwest show, you’ll meet some new faces along with some familiar ones. Performers include Dianne Blue, Lydia Warren, Lisa Mann, Alizon, Myanna and Kathy Burkly. Tickets are $18 for the 8PM show.

Rory Block at Sandywoods

Speaking of great Blues women, perennial favorite Rory Block will be returning to Sandywoods tomorrow night, March 14. Block is perhaps the foremost female interpreter of country blues in the world today. She recently released Avalon, an album which honors the music of the late Mississippi John Hurt, the 4th in a series of recordings of Delta Blues legends. Tickets are $20 in advance and $22 at the door. Rory takes the stage at 7:30PM.

Becky Chase Band in Warren

The venue may seem out of the ordinary, but call it the evolution of the “house show.” Tomorrow night, the Becky Chase Band will be playing a fundraiser for the Warren Animal Shelter at the Wilbur Romano Funeral Home in Warren. And why not!  Chase is a top local performer and was voted Best Americana female artist in the 2014 Motif Music Awards. Tickets are $20, BYOB to the show that begins at 8PM.
