City Announces Design Competition for New Pedestrian Bridge

The Providence River Pedestrian Bridge Design Competition will be anounced on Friday, September 10th at 1pm at the heliport adjacent to 345 S. Water Street.
The winning design will be used to construct a new pedestrian bridge that will link pedestrians and bicyclists from Fox Point and College Hill to downtown and the emerging Knowledge District. The pedestrian bridge will be constructed by RIDOT at the site of the old I-195 bridge that was dismantled as part of the highway relocation project.
Mayor Cicilline and Director Lewis will be joined neighborhood residents and members of the I-195 Pedestrian Bridge Committee. Representatives from Rhode Island’s Congressional Delegation have also been invited.
