FIRST LEGO League Event Brings 150 Students to Gordon School

Gordon School in East Providence will host 20 FIRST LEGO teams on Saturday, December 6 as part of the qualifying tournament fo the Future/FIRST LEGO Rhode Island State Championship. The teams will be looking to get into one of 40 spots availble for the State Championship which will be held in January.

The 20 teams are from all across the state and will compete in robot, project and core values categories during this tournament which serves as a celebration of science, engineering and technology.

“During the World Class season, teams have been meeting regularly since the fall to build and program a robot and work on their research project. The FIRST LEGO League program helps students develop real life skills, from coding to communication," said Rebekah Gendron, the Board President of Rhode Island Students of the Future and the organizer of the FIRST LEGO League Progame in Rhode Island. 

FIRST LEGO League was created by Dean Kamen, inventor, entrepreneur and tireless advocate for science and technology.The tournaments are free and open to the public.
