The bad news is our beloved Pats lost to the Jets and the opportunity to play in the Big Game. The good news is they had an awesome season! The great news is the Super Bowl is on Sunday, the Black Eye Peas are the half-time show and the game is being held in snow/ice/slush-free Cowboys Stadium. Everywhere you look online, they are talking about what to serve during the game. The real question is, who wants to cook? After all, the Super Bowl has something for everyone. The game is for the football fans, the half-time show is for the kids and gals and the commercials are for everyone. Why should you have to spend your time in the kitchen and miss out on your favorite part? Take the easy way out: Do take out.

Here are some great local places where you can virtually walk in and walk out with your feast in hand:

Venda Ravioli has great antipasto, cheeses and pre-made dishes. Call ahead for the platters or walk in and choose what you’d like. Go to their site and print out a 10% off coupon.
Drink: Sakonnet Vineyards Rhode Island Red NV is the perfect hearty wine for a Sunday afternoon.

At Blount Seafood's Market and Company Store in Warren and Fall River, you can pick up their four pound bags of soups and other seafood ready-to-bake items. Soup and sandwiches? Perfect for the game!
Drink: While you are down that way, keep on going south onto Aquidneck Island and stop by at Greenvale Vineyards to stock up on a few bottles of their Skipping Stone White. It is perfect with your seafood menu!

Trader Joe’s in Warwick offers, for the most part, organic or additive free food. Not only do they have an aisle of frozen yummies such as black bean and cheese taquitos or spinach and mushroom quiche, they have a huge array of imported cheeses, salamis, guacamole, varieties of humus and salsas and chips and crackers. Since TJ’s is a huge company, they sell their wholesome foods and great prices, well below your local supermarket’s organics aisle. It is worth the trip.
Drink: Unfortunately, Rhode Island does not allow TJ’s to sell their famous 2-buck Chuck, but Newport Vineyards in Middletown sells their awesome Rhody Coyote Hard Apple Cider which is a perfect for TJ’s fare!

Did you know that Subway caters? Go to your local Subway, put in your order and they will whip up platters of sandwiches for you. Next stop, the grocery store. Grab some chips and dips and you are all set.

So call your friends at the last minute and make a food run. They will marvel at your amazing hostess skills and you can sit back and enjoy the game!
