Letters from the Affair, written and composed by the band’s bassist, David Chevan, is a brand-new musical with a timely and emotionally charged message about Anti-Semitism and friendship.

The work is based upon a series of letters written by the Impressionist painters Camille Pissarro and Edgar Degas.

These letters are framed to tell a little-known story from the end of the 19th century about the relationship between these two founding members of the French Impressionist Art movement.

The story traces the arc of their friendship and their estrangement in the wake of the Dreyfus Affair.

The cast features Cantor Malachi Kanfer as Camille Pissarro and Cantor Martin Levson as Edgar Degas.

They are joined by two members of the Afro-Semitic Experience; drummer Alvin Benjamin Carter, Jr. is the narrator and percussionist Jocelyn Pleasant plays Zoe, Degas’ maid.
