Martinis for Melanoma

It's a great way to kick off the New Year: kicking off awareness of a major health threat, particularly to teens.

On Friday, January 7, McFadden's Restaurant and Saloon holds its First Friday Happy Hour, Martinis for Melanoma, from 5-7 pm. Those making a contribution to the Melanoma Foundation of New England will receive appetizer and drink specials as well as be eligible to win a fantastic raffle prize.  A free UV facial scanner will also be available to help you see how well you are protecting your skin from the sun. 100% of the money raised goes to the Melanoma Foundation of New England. For more information, visit www.mfne.org.

The Melanoma Foundation of New England raises funds and awareness regarding prevention of this deadly form of cancer. A new campaign, Your Skin Is In, which launches on January 10, encourages teens to take a no-tanning pledge. In the Your Skin Is In video, Kelli Pedroia, wife of the Red Sox second-baseman Dustin Pedroia, discusses candidly her misguided use of tanning beds, and her subsequent melanoma. And in this cocktail situation, one is not enough: in February, McFadden's will reprise the event, on February 13, from 6-9pm. For more information, contact MFNE, here.
