Machines Overpower Humans at RISD

Art Hack Day will take place November 13-15 at RISD as over forty artists and hackers will participate in Master Slave - an exhibit that places the viewer in a futuristic landscape where humans are both master and slave to computers.

Art Hack Day is an internet-based, nonprofit program dedicated to hackers/artists whose medium is technology. The project was founded in 2011 by Paul Christophe, David Huerta, and Olof Mathé and began as a grass-roots collaboration to demonstrate the "expressive potential of new technology [...] and its ability to affect social change for public good."

The artists and hackers will build the exhibit from scratch in a 48 hour time frame while they inhabit the space - building commences Thursday and the event will end on Saturday with a party complete with food, and live entertainment for the public.

During the 48 hours participants have to create the exhibit, visitors are invited to interact with the works of art as they are uploaded online throughout the "hack".

The exhibit will be built and showcased at RISD's Exposé Gallery + Eship located at 204 Westminister St., Providence.

The exhibition and performances will be open to the public on November 15 from 7:00 p.m. on.
