NEW: RI's Johnny Gates Back on The Voice for Playoffs

Rhode Island’s Johnny Gates is back on The Voice and in playoff contention following a loss to Hunter Plake earlier this month. 

“Breaking news: I'M BACK! my garage band homie Gwen Stefani has brought me back to rep #teamGwen in The Voice live playoffs starting tonight and TOMORROW! voting info below!! thank you guys soo much for sticking with me through this whole process. it's been a roller coaster and your support means everything!! WE BACK! spread the word!!,” Gates said on his Facebook page on Monday. 

Gates returns to The Voice after the show renewed their Coach Comeback, that they used in seasons nine and ten, allowing each of the four coaches - Alicia Keys, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani - to bring back an artist that was eliminated in the knockout rounds.

The Voice’s playoffs begin on April 17.

Gates joined GoLocal’s Molly O’Brien on GoLocal LIVE on three separate occasions to talk about his run on The Voice. 

Most recently, Gates joined GoLocal LIVE following his elimination from the show to talk about new music that he is writing and an upcoming performance in Providence. 

Prior to that, he joined LIVE to talk about his opening battle round win over Sammie Zonana, and prior to that, he was in studio to discuss auditioning for The Voice.
