Newport Arboretum Teams With Salve Regina to Host Summer Landscape Series

The Newport Arboretum is teaming the Arboretum at Salve Regina University to his a three-part summer Landscape Series featuring historian John Tschirch.

The series will begin on July 10 with he final part taking place on September 16.

The Landscape Series will begin on Monday, July 10 with a lecture titled “Follies, Temples & Gates: Newport Garden Architecture.”

The lecture will begin at 6 p.m. at the Antone Center at Salve Regina.

The second part of the lecture will be held on August 10 with a workshop titled “Images of Eden: Newport Landscape Photography.”

The lecture will take place at 10 a.m. at McAuley Hall at Salve Regina.

The final part of the lecture will take place on September 16 with a tour titled “The Green City: Parks and Pleasure Grounds.”

The tour will begin at Touro Park at 10 a.m.

John Tschirch

Tschirch is an award winning architectural historian and honorary member of The Garden Club of America.

He is in the middle of a major research initiative into the art forms that make up Newport’s landscape heritage.
