Project Cover-Up Kicks Off Winter Coat Drive

For the past 12 years, organizers of the drive have worked tirelessly to ensure those most in need, our state’s vulnerable children, have the necessary clothing to withstand the cold weather. Each BankRI branch throughout the state will accept new and gently used coats, new hats, new scarves, new blankets, and new gloves and mittens for distribution to local families. Donations will also be accepted at multiple Courtesy Cleaners locations, The Furniture Bank of Rhode Island, and at the two International Motor Group sites.
BankRI steps up
“As a result of the difficult economic times impacting families across our state, many families who are struggling to make ends meet may also find it difficult to afford the appropriate clothing their children need for the winter,” said Patricia O. Saracino, Vice President of Community Relations for BankRI. “BankRI is thankful for the generosity of our customers, who do an incredible job of giving back to the community. Each and every donation we receive will, without question, make a big difference for families in need.”

The Furniture Bank of Rhode Island works to improve the quality of life for individuals and families least able to meet their basic needs. Through operating a distribution center in Providence, the organization solicits donations of good quality furniture, household goods, and clothing from individuals and businesses across the state. These items are then redistributed to qualified individuals and families referred by a member network of more than 85 social service agencies.
“On behalf of everyone we serve, particularly as the need for help continues to increase, we are happy as always that BankRI is once again on-board for this critical initiative,” said Mary Landreville, Executive Director of The Furniture Bank. “Their efforts, along with the generosity of their customers and staff, have a great impact on the success of this drive.”
