RI Food Bank launches summer food drive
The Rhode Island Community Food Bank launched the 2017 Summer Food Drive to address the need for food assistance for the summer.

“Hunger doesn’t take a vacation during the summer. Our member agencies continue to serve 59,000 each month. Yet, food donations generally go down once the weather gets warm. That’s why our Summer Food Drive is so critical to ensure that no one in Rhode Island goes hungry,” said Food Bank CEO Andrew Schiff.

The public is invited to pick up food drive poster and collection bins at the Food Bank on any weekday between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“As a community, we must come together to ensure that everyone has enough food to eat, especially during the summer when children miss out on the meals they normally receive at school. Our neighbors need our support to help them from going hungry,” said Summer Food Drive Chair Andy Moffit, the First Gentleman of Rhode Island.

Financial donations also support the Summer Food Drive. Each dollar donated enables the Food Bank to provide three pounds of nutritious food.
