School One in Providence to Host Young Writers Program

Write Rhode Island co-creator School One has announced a free National Novel Writing Month Young Writers program for students in grades seven to 12.

Beginning on October 25, the program will meet on Wednesday’s from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at School One located on University Ave in Providence.

The Young Writers Program is for students who want to take their imaginations and writing to the next level.

The program is instructed by Maryann Ullmann, a local teaching artist on the RISCA Education Roster.

She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Chatham University and has taught writing in numerous community spaces including county jails, cultural centers, and after-school programs.

The program wraps up on December 6 with a pizza party and an opportunity for students to share their work with family and friends.
