It was a big week for music in the area. On Wednesday, Santigold played at Lupo's. Her second album Master of My Make Believe was released only a few weeks ago, and she is known for collaborating with artists such as the Beastie Boys, Kanye West, and Julian Casablancas. On Thursday, alt rock band Cake played a sold-out show at Lupo's. The band, whose songs have been used in movies and TV shows like Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Chuck (their song "Short Skirt/Long Jacket" is the theme song) entertained the audience for two and a half hours, and gave away an apple tree to a member of the audience. And at the Mohegan Sun on Friday, Grammy award winning band, Florence and the Machine, played at the big arena, while former teen pop star (and younger brother of Backstreet Boy Nick Carter) Aaron Carter played a free show at the Wolf Den to a crowd of screaming women...

Two members of the Jersey Shore empire were seen recently. Michael Morgan, known as DJ Biggie, is Pauly D's best friend and road manager. The two met while working at Club ULTRA in Providence, and now he tours the country with Pauly on the spin-off show The Pauly D Project. On Saturday, Jersey Shore cast member Vinny Guadagnino was at the Mohegan Sun for a Signings and Sightings event. He was there to promote his new book, Control the Crazy, and to meet with and take pictures with fans. Pauly D was nowhere to be seen...
Professional golfer and Rhode Islander Brad Faxon was seen relaxing at Raffa Yoga in Cranston. Although he was born in New Jersey, he was raised in Barrington, where he now resides with his family. Faxon has won on the PGA Tour eight times, and is known as one of the best putters in golf history. Guess he needed some spa time before getting back out on the green...
