Lippitt Hil was formerly an African American neighborhood on Providence’s East Side, before it was destroyed to make way for University Heights.

Phase One Concludes

Phase one of the project concluded on Thursday, Jun 29 at Rochambeau Library when 11 former African American residents recalled their days on Lippitt Hill while an audience of 76 listened.

The discussion featured a sharing of photographs and a trophy that Celebrity Cub performer Sugar Ray Robinson bestowed upon young Hope High student Meredith Spicer.
