Foreign Mystery: I have to say even though I'm not a big fan of Sweden, I am of Stieg Larsson. The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest is the third book in his Swedish triology. These are incredible, and this is the final one. For real. The writer died!

Smart Girl Stuff: The new Aimee Bender novel, The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake. I love her. She usually writes short stories. Reading this will make you smarter.
Roman a Clef: American Wife, the fictionalized story of Laura Bush by Curtis Sittenfeld.

Ann Hood is working on a new series of historical novels for young readers, and continuing to tour the country and give readings from The Red Thread, her latest novel. Look for more great summer reads every Monday.
