Whether you’re hitting the beach or hitting the town, there is one accessory that is always essential for summer: the perfect sandal. This summer, national sandal trends run from subtle to sultry – including wedges, platforms, flats, and elegant nudes and neutrals. Additionally, for lovers of the Roman look, last year’s gladiator is still kicking around – but this time, it’s revamped and glammed up.

To help you find the perfect summer sandal, we’ve consulted local shoe boutiques to get their input on the hottest sandal they carry this summer. So far this summer, a common thread between shops is style combined with comfort. It's summer, after all!

The Local Look

Berk’s Shoes and Clothing Store in Providence named the Worishofer wedge sandal one of their hottest sandals of the summer. This open-toe wedge sandal (shown below)

Jamiel’s Shoe World in Warren picks Naot Sandals as their hottest of the summer – in particular, the wedge sandal with a strap across the instep. This slide-in option is the

most popular for the summer because it is elegant, easy on and off, and comfortable.

For the national perspective, we also checked with Nordstrom in the Providence Place Mall. This summer, at Nordstrom, it’s all about the flat sandals– and in particular, the Steve Madden Saahara (below, right) – flat, fashion-forward, and flirty, made with suede and silver buckles.

Lastly, check out DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse) in Warwick for a wide selection of fun and affordable style (like a reptile zippered Madden Girl gladiator!).
