The Best of Rhode Island: Top New England Colleges 2012

The best of the best
It’s no surprise that Brown, with consistent top rankings in national lists including US News & World Report, would place among New England’s top institutions, taking the #4 spot behind Yale, Harvard, and MIT. With top marks for everything from academics to its radio station (WBRU) and newspaper (the Brown Daily Herald), RI’s own Ivy held strong in the regional ranking.
How’d the rest of RI’s schools do?
After Brown, two RI schools battled for placement in the Top 35 of 89 New England schools: Bryant University in Smithfield snagged the #33 spot, followed immediately by Providence College at #34. Johnson and Wales notched the #50 ranking in New England, followed by Roger Williams at #54. Rhode Island’s public university, URI, placed at #61, followed by Rhode Island College at #68 and Salve Regina at #75. (The Rhode Island School of Design, often named to the top art and design schools in the nation, was not ranked as it’s not included in the national lists that made up GoLocal’s Super Ranking.)
