Two Newport Museums To Host Ceramics Celebration Day

Newport Restoration Foundation (NRF) and Newport Art Museum are partnering for On the Lawn at Rough Point: Clayfest, a day-long ceramics festival. 

The event will take place at Doris Duke’s Rough Point home on June 27 from 10 A.M. until 4 P.M. and is being held in support of the NRF's 2015 exhibit, Fired and Inspired: Ceramics at Rough Point.

The day’s activities will range from observing finished pieces, to purchasing ceramics from vendors, to learning how to make pots. Activities include Pots on Wheels, Raku Firing, Hands-on Kids Creation Station, and pottery throwing. 

On top of the ceramics, food from vendors including Tallulah’s Taco Truck and Flat Waves will be available. 

Admission is $15 for the general public, $10 for Newport Art Museum members, and $8 for children. In the event of rain, Clayfest will be held Sunday, June 28.
